Many overlook Still as it is not a "proper" album but a gathering of bootleg tracks and live sessions recordings most of them poorly recorded outed after Ian Curtis' death. However, this is still (ahem!) an essential Joy Division release because it is the strongest and most sentimentally immediate expression of what Joy Division is: rough, nerve wracking energy encompassing a subtle core of melodic irony.
