1968 Folk Art Painting of Urn with Flowers on Masonite Board, Signed Indonesian wayang multi puppet Sold as a set ofThis painting is definitely a folk art piece, but between that sky and off kilter checkerboard floor and super bright bouquet it also has a bit of a Chicago Imagist feel about it to me, while also seeming to reference theorem paintings, with the urn especially almost looking like a cut stencil. All this adds up to what I think is quite a fabulous painting, with an impact quite beyond its smallish size, and which seems just the thing to get one through
