Lovely Antique Pacific Northwest Coast Native American Twined Open Basket antique school book as found: 11 1/16" xI believe this basket is Makah Nootka though possibly Tsimshian (clearly Pacific NW Coast Native), woven of cedar bark and grass. And based on the construction, as well as the patina, I believe late 19th or very early 20th century. I much more often come across examples of lidded baskets, with plaited cedar bark rims and bases, but this is a rarer, and very lovely open one, with fully twined base, exemplifying, as I understand it, the more labor
