This handsome raised pillar Leonard Grilse reel is in very good condition and a superb descendant of the style popularized by the famous Philbrook model years earlier

which uses my "payne-style acorn cap" (normally used with a screw-lock seat) with a standard sliding ring which is seated over nickel silver rails inset into the spacer

The western style grip has some soiling but otherwise I probably would have called this rod mint

Marked "JH 8' Regd. trade Mark, Palakona, 'the Phantom', #6" (as well as what appears to be "2h5cm" though it's difficult to make out the script). Slightly soiled blunt cigar grip with all cork seat and aluminum ring and pocket cap. Pocket cap stamped "made by Hardy's England". Varnished light colored cane with 3 up node pattern. Wrapped black with red edges.
