I have to think the subject was wandering about nearby as this was made

hand-colored deck clearly reveals what I had a hunch was true: this Mexico card is a hand-drawn version of that printed deck

Longer one measures 8 1/2" l

C. 1830s Ink Silhouette of Woman in Original Frame wooden dog brooch Sold as a bunchThe frame (with pretty little acorn at top holding a hanging ring) tells me that this inked silhouette dates to the 1830s or so, though probably once held glass, which is long gone. Thus, there is wear and aging to the painting and paper, including some loss to what appears to have been gold painted details on her hair and bodice. I kind of like the effect, lending it some extra aura, but with her quite prominent nose still very clearly pronounced!
